I've been cleaning hoods since 1996. I've never been hurt... that is until June 2012. I was doing a routine inspection when a simple misgrip on the ladder caused me to fall. The fall was only about 10ft, but it was enough to badly break my heel and wrist. I've never felt that kind of pain. It's November now and I would say I'm 100% recovered, but it is more acurate to say that I'm 100% able to do everything I could do before the injury, but now I have to deal with pain in my foot everyday. Why am I posting this blog? Because I want to remind you that safety is your responsibilty. Let's face it, accidents happen and people sometimes get hurt. But no work around the kitchen is worth risking injury, so hire professionals, make sure they are insured, do your best, and forget the rest!
